About Me

My name is Hanne Arts and I'm a budding author. I currently live in England, but previously lived in Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Slovakia.

Writing has been my passion since I was seven years old, and I am proud to announce that, in December 2014, I published my first full-length novel titled Just Perfect. Almost three years later, in 2017, its sequel, Red Ribbons, was finalized, just as I was entering my second year of study (Psychology) at university.

Rising from the depths of bullying, I wrote Just Perfect and Red Ribbons about my personal struggles with depression, which landed me in the intensive care department of a foreign hospital and pushed me into the arms of a dangerous eating disorder.

My fictional memoir attained immediate success and praise from other sufferers as well as from people seeking to better understand the complicated concept of living with a mental illness.

Before publishing my books, I participated in three Short Story Competition Hungary, for which I received the Short List Award in 2011, Honorable Mention in 2012, and Second Place in 2013. I was shortlisted in the Nancy Thorp Poetry Competition in 2013 and Junior Author Short Story Competition in 2014.

I also published numerous stories and poems in the Helix Literary Magazine and Voices de la Luna, after which I co-authored 'The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' and 'The Recovery Letters.'
